even more to the south

It is difficult to find time to write the blog, the environment here is so nice that you just don't want to look somewhere else...

We are now in the island of Lanta "Koh Pants" in Thai. I had one day again stomach problems and Daniela the next day, but it's everything working back as usual.

Today we took again a rented motorbike and drove down the island. There are a lot of nice little "calas" which you can not go by car and thus are not so saturated. Really nice!! Warm clear water with white sand and palm trees in the background. Paradise...

We have however changed our bungalow 3 times in 4 days... The first one had a lot of mosquitos and the bathroom was really dirty, it had worms inside the bamboo that you could hear them chewing the wood! The second one is the one you see on the youtube video "where else". It was beautiful, BUT it was so 'nature's free feeling that in the bathroom we had big crabs and on the roof rats... pity because the place was beautiful. Now we're next to there but with a clean and nice bungalow with air-conditioning, for the same price...

We'll probably go tomorrow snorkeling again! I think we will probably see clown fishes (the one from Nemo).

Cheers for everybody!

hiking and biking

We went on a 2hour hike tour and later did a downhill ride on mountain bikes. It was so much fun! The pictures were taken with the other camera, so just some now...

Really happy that I brought my mobile phone with me. So far I used it to browse on internet, emailing, look for hostels, as a gps navigator, as a camera, as a blogger, as a Wifi VoIP to call home for 0cent/min, but actually I think I haven't used it as a normal phone yet!

So, don't get an iPhone! Take an Android!

Next photos are from the south :)

Regards from the paradise...

Buddhist Lessons

Next day, while having breakfast at Julie's Guesthouse, we met Kihn, a Birmanesse-Australian teacher, who happened to play the guitar very nicely. We actually thought we were listening to the radio, but it was him next to our table.

After several transcendental conversations about India, we managed to get to the temple next to us, in which two times a week you can have a chat with a Buddhist Monk that speaks english. It was really relaxing and interesting. We learned a lot and asked questions to the monk. He was from Cambodia and had been student for 8 years. Now he was 28.

Buddhism seems like a nice balanced and peaceful religion to me, I may need to learn more about it.

Later, we walked through the night market, SO MANY things! While walking around I have the feeling that we should have come with a truck, and then drive back to Europe full of nice and cheap items.

Cheers!

A video overview of the Doi Suthep Temple

Doi Suthep Temple, Chiang Mai

Hello World! We're flying tonight down to the south of Thailand. We have decided to take the plane since the bus would have taken almost two days, and we found thanks to our new US-India friend Pallavi, a low-fare airline that flies down there. If you want to come to visit us, I think they fly from Europe also. (Fernando? Air-asia)

The pictures from this post are from a temple on top of a mountain near Chiang-Mai. We rented a couple of mopeds (scooters) and went up with three new colleagues that we met in Sukhothai. Matt, Nima and Pallavi. It was fun! That was Thursday last week, it has happened a lot since then, so I will be writing now in the Blog for like an hour.

I think after the ride, we went to eat some Israeli food to the restaurant Mama Falafel, pretty nice food but strange owner.

In the same mountain where the temple is, there is several waterfalls, but only one was open to the 'public'. I say this because later, in our trip hiking and down-hill mountain bike, we learned that those signs are only for tourists...

The pictures are all taken with the mobile phone, because it is much faster to upload them to the blog. The ones made with the camera are much nicer! But those ones we will show them to you personally.

Cheers!

The Grand Palace and the Wat Phra Kaew Temple

Hello readers!
It's difficult to keep up with the blog, not because of Wifi availability but because of lack of time. But here we are, I am writing from a Bus which is driving us from Sukhothai to Chiang Mai, we've left Bangkok two days ago. Now we are heading north.

Anyway, the pictures that I uploaded before are from our visit to the grand palace area. It is the place where several of the.kings or Thailand have been leaving. Let's say it is the equivalent to the spanish Palacio de la Zarzuela. But just equivalent in its function, because oh my God, it's this nice! Such an explosion of shiny colors and forms, mixed with Asian God figures. There is no way that you can take a good photo of the reality. I think you have to see this live.

In an attempt of capturing more the essence of the moment I have taken a couple of videos, but they are simply too big to) upload them. I have tried to upload the.one of the boat trip but it took about an hour to get 100Mbyte done, so in the future probably I will not upload videos to the blog unless they are pretty small.

After seeing the temples we decided to continue going north, and we took a train to Phisanoluk, which cost 8eur for 5 hours! we even had lunch served and later a.muffin, including water. The train was falling apart but the service was good.

At night we arrived to Phisanoluk and we asked a security man in the train station for the bus station, he was really friendly and walked us until the bus stop, which was almost 300meters away. Thai people are sometimes really helpful and friendly.

After taking what they call a "bus" we arrived at our bungalow house, really nice. First time here in Sakhuthai we realized that our vaccine made sense. There where are a lot of wild abandoned dogs lying around.

It is quite nice to see how much fruits you can buy and how good they look. Daniela bought one dragonfruit, which looks really surrealistic and has impressively strong colors, however it didn't taste any special.

We went yesterday to a ancient town full of temple ruins which also was really interesting. We will post the pictures later. It was dated to year 1200 and was very important for Thailand in the past.

We plan to stay until the 19th here in the north, and then we will fly down to the south to spend the rest of the time in the nice thai beaches. But do not worry, where we are heading is still far away from the flooded areas that you know from the news.

Regards, Daniela & Juanma.
