Buddhas buddhas y mas buddhas....

After the only tech. post I am now obligated to write something for the "normal" people.

We've been yesterday to the Wat Pho temple, just one of the FOUR HUNDRED budist temples in Bangkok. Here ist just insane, there are temples everywhere and they are really nice. I do not have a clue how the Thais manage to keep the golden finish so shiny all the time.

The Wat Pho is known for containing the Reclining Buddha, a huge buddha statue measuring 46meters long and 15 tall. Sadly the pictures from the big one are on the other camera. I've read inside the "resort" there are about 10000 figures from Buddha. Amazing.

I've posted.some pics from the place, and a video (actually quite bad, but serves to illustrate) with a small boat-trip like the locals do.

Daniela had yesterday a Thai massage, ridiculously cheap, 5€ for an hour!

Cheers! Daniela abd Juanma

a propós Umweltplakette...

Hello people, this post goes for many of us with technical background and motorsport interests... Yesterday we took one shuttle-boat to make the trip back to the hotel after visiting the Wat-Pho temple. To my surprise, I relised that the Thais have a very KISS way of solving needs. See the pictures below? They power these motorboats with turbocharged diesel engines from old trucks. The whole package contains the fan/radiator system as well as the turbocharger and a direct exhaust "ala" side-pipe. What are those unnecesary noise absorbers, particle filters and oxidizing catalizators?

Just a little bit dangerous, sometimes the engines are air cooled with a mechanical fan, so next to the "driver" sits the high speed rotating blades without any kind of protection. Bestimmt TÜV zugelassen...

But!, for safety reasons they put the gearbox in neutral when standing still...hehe. The propeler is directly attached to the original truck propshaft.

Nice, isn't it?

Eng. Greetings from Bangkok. Jm.

First impression Thailand

Hello people!
We arrived yesterday after plenty of flight hours. I will not write much now because Daniela is sitting next to me and I do not want she to get bored and to think "oh my God, the second day and he's already with his high tech. gadgets ...

We have flown from Düsseldorf to Dubai and after 3hours stopover we got onto a huge a380 with plenty of media onboard... nice bird

Then we got to Bangkok and oh, it is hot here! Daniela is already adapted but I am still having digestive problems...

The taxis are also interesting, they look like tunning cars. Some of them have even changed exhaust pipes. Crazy.

Everything is really cheap here, but I think it is indirectly proportional to order. Chaos is the king here.

We've been already to our first temple, and luckily there is something special this month that almost all of them are open until much later.

Daniela have tried to get some information about the temple culture directly from the Thais but unless they want to sell you something they speak almost no English.

I will keep you up to date. Here in the center of Bangkok there are plenty of wifi points. We will see next days when we move to the north.

Greetings from the hippie bar in khaosan road.

Daniela & Jm.

Una imagen vale mas que mil palabras

Trip map. Looks like there are some coined phrases which exist and are literally the same in several languages. One of them is the title of this post entry. A picture is worth a thousand words. Or, ein Bild sagt mehr als tausend Worte.

Here we show where are we planning to go on this long trip. I will try to update the blog as often as I can so that our families and friends do not miss us too much :)

Welcome to our blog.

Daniela y Juanma.
